Eating Without Kids: The Breslin

My husband and I used our one day of child-free vacation to eat lunch at a new restaurant (the Breslin) and watch a movie (Black Swan).

I picked The Breslin over ABC Kitchen because I am such a fan of the Spotted Pig. It was there that I realized that I could have an excellent meal with my husband AND daughter at a cool, happening restaurant — we went on the early side and were accommodated swiftly; they had a high chair as well as crayons!  Ever since we’ve been there many times.

We arrived right before noon in the hopes of beating the lunch crowds, and were one of the first to leave our names on the list for tables, which were being cleared from breakfast and prepared for lunch service. We sat down at 12:25, so the wait for a first seating was already a good half-hour. Continue reading


Cafe Frida: Hot Dishes, Cold Service

I really want to like Cafe Frida. It’s the closest Mexican restaurant by my house, and the food is not bad. It serves fancied-up traditional Mexican fare, and although I think it’s a bit expensive for what it is, it would have been convenient to our little sort-of-Mexican family here.
